Tactics & Tools to uncover or search for your keywords!
I have about 4 to 5 years of experience of Digital Marketing and with my experience I found these tools given below is very useful for me and hope that it will for you also. Try out these Google tools to help you with your keyword research and also for others on-page SEO activity too.
- Google’s Keyword Planner
The Google Keyword Planner was originally known as the Google Keyword Tool. It is one of the main and very useful tools for search keywords for SEO campaign. With the help of this tools Google share all the information related to keywords with its users. Without this tool it’s more difficult for SEO analyst to extract search volume information for the keywords they have selected for their website. Therefore, we recommend that you use the Keyword Planner to find the right keywords for your SEO campaign.
You’ll need to have a Google account to access the Google Adwords service.
Process for loing in Google Keywords Planner:
First you have to go to Google Adwords, once you’re in Adwords, click on “tools” in the top, main menu and select, “Keyword Planner”. Click on “Search for New Keyword or Phrase” and a dropdown will appear.
Enter a product or service that you provide and that is with your website URL, it will provide more relevant result for your query with your website. If you want to search for more than one term, enter each one on a separate line. Or if you have a Google Spreadsheet, you can copy and paste your terms into the search box. Now click on the button shown at below of the page and that in the blue box “Get ideas”.
In our case, we entered “WordPress Workshops” and “WordPress Classes’. The Keyword Planner returned these results (we’re only showing the top 5 – there were several others):
- Learn WordPress
- How to use WordPress
- WordPress training course
- WordPress tutorials
- WordPress training
We now have some new terms that we can incorporate in our keyword strategy to do well in Google.
- Google Trends
As part of Google Insights, you can use Google Trends to help you identify trends in searches and search volumes. You can find out what has been trending in search over the days/weeks or months for your key terms. You can also compare search terms with Google Trends – so you can find the most relevant phrase based on your business. For example, you can try “WordPress” “WordPress training”and “learn WordPress” and “How to Use WordPress” to compare the search results over time for each term. Shown in image below:
Go a little further/ deeper and you can search at a regional level. If you’re a “locally-based” service or product, you can get a better idea of search trends based on your area. So Google Trends can be helpful in further refining your keyword list.
- Google Suggest
Use your search box to uncover related and new terms as you type into the search function on Google. Let’s say that your search term is WordPress Developer. As you type in developer Google will generate other possibilities. Shown in image below:
- Use Latent Semantic Keywords Suggested by Google!
Another option for selecting keywords for your SEO is the Google’s latent semantic keywords which are suggested by the Google when your searched for any keywords in Google search. Shown in image below. It is also very good keywords which are used by your users to find your services and products on Google.
- Ask your existing client base about keywords and phrases
Another good option for selecting keywords for your SEO project or for your blog is that conducts a straw poll with your existing client base. What terms did they (or would they) use to find the services and products that you offer? Identifying and using the terms that your clients use will result in targeted search results.
Try testing out Google’s keyword tools to help you identify the keywords your users use. Use them correctly throughout or in your page content and watch your results.
Note: It is important that don’t expect instant results in Google or any other search engine. As you know that On-page is a long-term strategy. Over time, you will see that correctly identifying your keywords will improve your search engine results or in short you can say it will improve your websites ranking those terms or keywords you have selected.
